Even though Barracuda located in New York's most fabulously gay neighborhood, there's still something about this long, narrow bar that sets the bar high for an unpretentious good time. For one thing, there's no cover. And there's also a fierce, unfussy mega-retro feel to the decor that makes the atmosphere nifty, not obnoxious. Note, too, that female friends of Dorothy are always welcome here, as long as you can handle them ogling Barracuda's buff-boy bartenders right along with you. (Maybe bring them to the weeknight drag shows, like Shequida's talent searches or Candis Cayne's frolics.) All in all, the whole scene is spot on for a young crowd, from early-career types to NYU undergrads to local hotties out for a good time. While enjoying those well priced drinks (two-for-one during a 4-9pm Happy Hour), check out the killer pool table and the videos on monitors in the front and rear. DJs spin on weekends, so dive in and meet the shark of your dreams.
