Chances are when you think of Houston, images of oil, national sporting teams and NASA come to mind. But Houston, Texas' largest city, is a lot more. It's culturally diverse, a center for education, technology and industry, and is rapidly becoming a popular gay and lesbian travel destination. With roots in oil, cattle, shipping, and the Mexican-American war, today's Houston is a myriad of cultures - Southern, Western, Mexican-influenced, and International with its dozens of foreign consulates. With this comes a culinary feast from all around the world, making the dining experience delightful and never boring.

Thanks to its year-round balmy weather, outdoor activities are as popular in November as they are in May, and you'll find numerous bike paths and outdoor parks including the very popular, and sometimes cruisy, Memorial Park. If you're interested in shopping, check out The Galleria on Houston's west side for a major day-long event of browsing, eating and people watching. And don't miss the offerings found in the heart of gay Houston - the Montrose district, where Montrose and Westheimer boulevards come together. Among sidewalk cafes, restaurants, galleries, boutiques and specialty stores - chances are good that you'll find something, or someone, new. When you're ready for nightlife, you'll most likely find yourself back in Montrose, where you can roam between clubs that offer country western, bad boys, light shows, high-octane dancing, leather, lace, or conversation. No one is left out in one of the hottest nightlife scenes around.
